Reserved tickets (purchased either online or through our Business Office) will be held for you at Greenbank Station. Reserved tickets must be picked up at least 15 minutes prior to departure. If reserved tickets are not picked up 5 minutes prior to departure, we reserve the right to make those seats available for walk-up passengers, and your reservation will be considered "unclaimed." Unclaimed tickets are non-refundable. A reservation may be cancelled or re-scheduled by calling our Business Office at 302.998.1930 during normal business hours and at least 48 hours prior to departure.

A "speeder" is a small, gasoline-powered railroad motorcar once used by railroads to inspect the track for defects and problems. Small speeders could carry 1-3 track workers, and larger versions could carry up to 6 people and would often be seen with many small trailer carts attached to the rear filled with spikes and tools.

The top speed for most speeders is 30mph, but compared to the hand-operated pump cars that speeders replaced, they were extraordinarily fast!

Most modern railroads no longer use speeders, but rail enthusiasts around the country restore and operate these odd pieces of railroad machinery for the enjoyment of the public.

"Doubleheading" is a railroad term that refers to the coupling (or joining) of two locomotives at the front of a train. The addition of the second locomotive adds pulling power, and this practice is extremely rare among steam tourist railroads today. However, modern freight railroads frequently place two or more diesel locomotives at the front of long freight trains to provide the required pulling power.
